Supported Employment services can be accessed as part of our adult CalWORKs program in the Antelope Valley. The Supported Employment program helps CalWORKs participants interested in working to obtain and maintain jobs of their choosing. Participants work with an Employment Specialist one-on-one to address employment needs and work towards their career goals. As part of the program, a mental health clinician provides individual therapy and coordinates any additional services a participant needs (groups, medication, case management, etc.).
Our program provides a range of supported employment services tailored to individual needs, including:
If you are receiving CalWORKs with GAIN (Greater Avenues for Independence), you may speak with your GAIN Worker at DPSS regarding a referral. You may also reach out to the CalWORKs Manager or Supported Employment Supervisor by sending an e-mail to SE@pennylane.org.

Michael faced multiple barriers to employment, including mental health challenges and homelessness. When he joined the Supported Employment Program at Penny Lane, his journey to stability and success began.
Our team helped Michael identify his strengths, build confidence, and set career goals. He worked closely with a Therapist and an Employment Specialist, who guided him through resume development, interview preparation, and job placement opportunities. Through the program, he also gained access to mental health services, case management for housing resources, and food assistance.
To gain work experience, Michael participated in a temporary employment program, where he received hands-on training and mentorship.
His story is a testament to the life-changing impact of the Supported Employment Program.
