Growing up in foster care, Todd- the PetSmart Manager, found strength and support through a community of caring individuals. The support he received during these critical years shaped who he is today, and this sense of belonging and encouragement has been a guiding force throughout his life. From the kindness of foster parents to the dedication of mentors and social workers, many people believed in him (even when he did not believe in himself) and this helped shape his journey to where he is now.
I love working with Pets and I am so thrilled that Penny Lane Centers incorporates pets into their communities of care and at their housing locations. I love Penny Lane and cannot wait to do more in the future for all these wonderful children, youth and families. - Todd, PetSmart Store Manager
We cannot thank PetSmart enough for their generous donation of pet supplies for our clients. I was able to bring my big truck it was fully loaded and I had to go back and get another pallet that same day. Thousands of dollars worth of brand new donations from PetSmart. Todd was very accommodating to us.
A big thanks to companies, organizations, and communities that donate items like these that help transform the lives of the children, youth, and families we work with. It was definitely a successful Day of the Dog at Penny Lane this year!
Thank you PetSmart!

At Penny Lane we recognize the integral part pets be they dogs, cats, birds, fish or any other animal play in the lives of individuals and families. These animals may not be officially labeled as emotional support animals, but we are all fully aware of the love and support they provide to those of us who have a treasured pet. Knowing this is probably even more true for the clients we serve, as they strive to transform their lives, Penny Lane created a Pet Committee to see how we could help provide support to these animals who of need things from the necessities of food, collars, leashes, etc. to more significant needs such as spaying/neutering and other medial support. This assistance would have to be “self-funded” with partnerships within in and outside of Penny Lane as it falls outside the scope of our service contracts. This group meets every few weeks looking to identify and address the challenges for our pet-owning clients.
Monday August 26th is the International Day of the Dog. The committee took this as an opportunity to not only highlight our work with clients’ pets but give staff a chance to “strut their mutt” if they so chose by sharing photos of their beloved dogs for other staff to enjoy. To commemorate the event, we did a few things:
This celebration was great fun for all of us involved. In coming years, we look to expand it from Day of the Dog to Day of the Pet, as those non dog pets also matter! As the Pet Committee continues it’s work, we hope to share that with you as well.

Part of Penny Lane’s continuing efforts to provide care for the animals of our housing tenants, as much as possible, has included providing information regarding public events (free) for animals such as cooling centers, registration, and such. Thanks to Penny Lane staff person; Parichat Stout and her work with Scan Found Animals on August 26th, when we were able to go to one of our permanent housing sites: Metamorphosis and provide free microchipping for the fur babies. The micro-chipping event was hit. No fur baby was turned away.
Everything went smoothly. The ladies were very welcoming and nurturing to the fur babies. The paperwork was easy to understand for clients and the microchipping was quick. All the clients who participated were so appreciative.
This was a great gift to the clients of Metamorphosis and we are forever grateful.
