This year, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) inaugurated “Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month” to enhance awareness and support for individuals affected by substance use disorders (SUD). This initiative aims to assist those contemplating or seeking help, practitioners involved in treatment, and the loved ones of individuals with substance use conditions. By promoting treatment options, including medication-assisted treatments, SAMHSA strives to eliminate stigma, encourage recovery journeys, and advocate for best practices among healthcare providers.​

Substance use remains a significant public health concern in Los Angeles County. An estimated 1,482,000 residents are grappling with a substance use disorder.
