Growing up in foster care, I found strength and support through a community of caring individuals. The support I received during these critical years shaped who I am today, and this sense of belonging and encouragement has been a guiding force throughout my life. From the kindness of foster parents to the dedication of mentors and social workers, many people believed in me (even when I did not) and helped shape my journey. This spirit of compassion and connection, in many ways, inspired me to create Purrrlandia Cat Lounge & Cafe in Thousand Oaks—a unique haven where cats and cat lovers can connect in a welcoming and relaxing environment.

About Purrrlandia

Purrrlandia is more than a cat cafe; it is a promise of home for rescue cats and a community for cat lovers. Whether you are looking to adopt a new furry friend or simply want to unwind with a cup of coffee in the company of our cats, Purrrlandia offers a sanctuary for relaxation and connection. Our goal is to create a space where every visitor feels valued, and every cat has a chance to find a loving home.

The Inspiration Behind Purrrlandia

Volunteering at my local animal shelter provided a therapeutic escape from corporate life stresses and highlighted the profound healing power of feline companionship. I observed that fearful cats were often misunderstood and overlooked, leading to stress-induced health and behavior issues. Confined in small cages, they couldn’t exercise their natural behaviors or show their true personalities, making it hard for adopters to connect with them. Inspired by these experiences and the cat cafes I visited in Japan, I envisioned a similar sanctuary in the U.S. where refreshment, relaxation, socialization, and rescue could harmoniously coexist.

Our Vision and Mission

Purrrlandia was born from these experiences—a stress-free haven for rescue cats. Our mission is to provide an enriching environment for adoptable rescue cats while promoting education for responsible guardianship. We address the overcrowding and euthanasia challenges that shelters face by offering alternative sheltering, socialization, and adoption experiences. At Purrrlandia, we also offer “purr-therapy” for those who can’t have cats or just love being surrounded by them.

Our Unique Model

Purrrlandia features two main spaces: a large, enclosed cat lounge where free-roaming adoptable rescue cats and guests can interact, and a separate cafe serving delicious beverages and bites. We’re not just serving coffee; we’re serving up moments of joy and connection!
